GPTBot visited my site. Did someone buy?
No. GPTBot is a crawler. It does not place the order. A shopper coming through ChatGPT shows up as ChatGPT-User. OAI-SearchBot is the search index. Those are three different visits.
The same split exists elsewhere. ClaudeBot crawls. Claude-User fetches a page because a person asked. PerplexityBot indexes. Perplexity-User answers a question someone just typed. Googlebot is search. Google-Agent is an agent acting for a user.
Agent Stamp names the one that reached checkout. A crawler that is not a shopping agent stays Unknown, so a GPTBot hit does not become a fake order.
